It has been resolved that Seventh-day Adventists will clean on Sunday in public places around their communities however to avoid disruption of cleaning the Church members have been advised to begin Sabbath School and lesson study from their homes and congregational worship begins.
Prime Minister: “The President gave us a message and said that Seventh-day Adventists are respected. On the Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, people agree not to engage in work [for Adventist programs], but worship should begin at 10:00 AM.
And I would like to thank them for agreeing and respecting the President's proposal... He also asked that Seventh-day Adventists participate [in community service] on Sunday, and I appreciate that they agreed with the President's proposal..."
Pr. Samuel Kajoba: "On behalf of the entire Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda, we want to appreciate the President of this nation and his committee for loving his people, for loving God's people... all arrangements made are done for the good of the people, and we want to thank him very much as a church. As the Seventh-day Adventist Church, one of the things we prioritize is sanitation; it is part of what we teach, part of what helps us maintain God's honor among people... life is a crucial matter, and so when we heard about this arrangement, we really welcomed it.
And this plan that came up, we really appreciated it, and I want to confirm here on behalf of the church, we are ready to work with the government on this issue.
For us, worship during the Sabbath starts Friday evening until Saturday evening; we cannot mix in other activities during that time... But what was bothering us was that, since the President allowed us to do [community work] on Sunday, we are going to do it thoroughly to the appreciation of the entire nation, and we are going to sit down immediately.
We ask the leaders to ensure that this plan is carried out properly on Sunday; we will start early in the arrangements and work... and this coming one, the final one, we are going to officially launch it and be fully present on Sunday.
We agreed with the government; worship has not been stopped, worship will begin at 10:00 AM..."
