The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda has officially launched the OneVoice27 initiative, bringing congregations across the nation together in a unified push to preach the gospel using digital media.
Addressing congregants at Najjanankumbi Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Samuel Kajoba emphasized the urgent need to embrace digital tools for modern evangelism. While acknowledging that traditional pulpit preaching remains vital, Pastor Kajoba highlighted a growing generational shift.
"Traditional gospel preaching is very good, but the youth now spend more time on their digital devices," Pastor Kajoba noted during his address.
Recognizing that digital channels are already being leveraged by individuals, church leaders identified a critical gap in organized digital outreach. OneVoice27 was conceived to bridge that gap on a global scale—onboarding not only the youth, but also elders, pastors, and senior citizens. The initiative equips members to convert platforms like WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and YouTube into tools for spreading the Word of God.
Across various congregations, members responded enthusiastically by dedicating their smartphones, tablets, and personal social media accounts to gospel work rather than strictly personal use.
The launch weekend saw key church administrators and leaders deployed across several strategic centers to rally members behind the digital mission:
Najjanankumbi SDA Church: Hosted Pastor Dr. Tom Ogal, Under Secretary for the East-Central Africa Division (ECD).
Bunga Central SDA Church: Received Dr. Aurilie Mukabalisa, Associate Education Director for the ECD.
Makerere SDA Church: Welcomed Pastor Rogers Kajwa, Associate Secretary of the Uganda Union Mission, who was received with high praise by the congregation.
Katikamu SDA Church (North Buganda Field): Hosted Pastor Nturo Hanington.
Entebbe SDA Church: Welcomed Hope Channel Chaplain, Pastor Ssempira Martin.
Through OneVoice27, the Uganda Union Mission joins the worldwide Adventist Church in mobilizing every device and digital footprint to ensure the gospel message reaches all corners of the country and beyond.
